HIS COAT OF ARMS

Bishop Ignatius Menezes has designed his coat of arms on the typical Rajasthan ‘heveli’ balcony, surmounted by a cross, proclaiming the reign of Christ in his diocese.

The shield is divided into three parts. The upper left part depicts an oasis scene (life in a desert) symbolizing the source of the Good News to the world. The right upper part has an oil lamp symbolizing Christ the Light the lower part has the Franciscan emblem in recognition of the work of the French Capuchins in the diocese.

The scroll bears the Motto of Bishop Ignatius ‘ Glory to God’ remaining his flock, the words of St. Ignatius “ To those who see God, His Glory gives life. Participation in the life of God is the vision of God and the enjoyment of His blessing. The glory of God is in a living man, the life of man is the vision of God.”
